Latest Stem Cell Research
The regenerative cells used at Premier Injury Center are from the amniotic membrane. This is commonly known as amniotic tissue therapy. This treatment has been in use for almost 100 years! In the early 1900s, the amniotic membrane was used to treat things like burns and other wounds. Now, it’s used to treat a number of conditions and injuries.
Amniotic tissue therapy involves using the healthy tissue and fluid from the placenta. This placenta helps babies grow inside their mothers! When applied to medicine, this type of tissue therapy possesses powerful nutrients and healing properties.
Because there isn’t much information about this new treatment, a lot of patients have a lot of questions going into stem cell therapy*. Keep reading as we unpack some of the confusion around this new treatment.
Ethics
Much of the confusion about stem cell therapy is around whether or not this research is ethical or even legal. At Premier Injury Center, we use amniotic tissue therapy, commonly referred to as stem cell therapy. The tissue used for this treatment is harvested with permission after the birth of a baby. It’s a pain-free and easy harvesting process. If not used in medicine, this placenta would be considered biological waste. Amniotic tissue therapy is legal and regulated by the FDA.
